Residents across the Hunter Valley may notice low-flying helicopters this month, with Transgrid set to carry out inspections of high-voltage electricity transmission lines between October 13th and 30th.
The aerial survey will see helicopters travel at around 50 kilometres per hour as part of the company’s ongoing network maintenance program. The inspections will focus on assessing conductor conditions to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the transmission network.
The program follows the completion of Transgrid’s annual bushfire prevention activities, which help protect infrastructure and communities across regional NSW ahead of the summer season.
Transgrid has advised that the inspection schedule is weather dependent and may be adjusted accordingly.
Residents who see the helicopter are reminded it is part of planned maintenance and not an emergency response.
