The groom who hired the wedding bus involved in the Hunter Valley crash that killed 10 people in 2023 is suing the bus company.

Mitchell Gaffney is taking legal action against LINQ Buslines for alleged deceitful conduct, after paying for the charter that crashed on its way to Singleton. Ten people died and 25 others were injured in the crash, which happened at a roundabout on Wine Country Drive at Greta on the night of 11 June 2023.

A directions hearing in the matter is set for next week.

The bus driver, Brett Button, pleaded guilty in 2024 to multiple charges, including dangerous driving occasioning death. He was sentenced to a maximum of 32 years in jail, with a non-parole period of 24 years.

A class action on behalf of victims, survivors and first responders is already before the NSW Supreme Court. It alleges design failings at the roundabout contributed to the crash and its severity. Mr Button and LINQ Buslines have been named as cross-defendants.
