The father of the groom from the wedding that led to the Greta Bus Crash Tragedy says a national body needs to be established to enforce safety standards.
The call from Mitchell Gaffney’s dad John follows the announcement of reforms to seat belt laws for buses and coaches including the implementation of aircraft-style audio-visual alerts.
Mr Gaffney, a retired transport engineer, has told the Herald there should be a peak body in Australia made up of the federal government, the state government and the bus industry to work on safety standards.
He has called the current safety system for the country’s 100,000 buses “sloppy”.
