Upper Hunter schools’ and businesses will be wearing blue this Friday to create awareness and fundraise as part of ‘Do it for Dolly Day.’
The day honors the memory of schoolgirl, Dolly Everett, who tragically took her own life in 2018 after being bullied at school and online.
Recent data shows 1 in 6 school kids experience bullying every week across the nation.
Dolly’s mum and Co-Founder of Dolly’s Dream, Kate Everett, says the day is also an opportunity to raise funds for a 24-hour support line and anti-bullying programs.
Locally, horse tails will be braided with blue ribbons at the Scone and District School Horse sports event.
The staff at Locks hair salon in Scone will be wearing blue and taking donations.
Whilst in Aberdeen, Upper Hunter Rideshare are having a fancy dress up with a blue theme and will be donating a portion of fares on the day.
