Detectives have released CCTV footage in an appeal for information after the body of a man was found at Elermore Vale last month.
Police were called to Lake Road about 12.30pm on Wednesday, August 19, following reports a body had been located. Officers attended and found the body of a man on a vacant property. Police attached to Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and began inquiries into the incident under Strike Force Draven.
The body has since been identified as 55-year-old Shane Ryan. As inquiries into the circumstances of his death continue, detectives have released CCTV footage of Mr Ryan at a hotel in Singleton on Friday, July 31, in the weeks leading up to his death.
In the footage, Mr Ryan is seen wearing a distinctive Holden HSV Racing jacket, blue jeans and brown boots. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of medium build, about 170cm tall, with a grey goatee beard, a bald head and green eyes.
Anyone who may have seen or had contact with Mr Ryan in recent weeks, or who has information about his whereabouts, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
