Busy weekend for local firefighters

The Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue New South Wales responded at lunchtime yesterday to reports of an out-of-control fire in Milbrodale.

Firefighters spent a few hours working on extinguishing the blaze in a hard-to-access area on the Putty Road.

Also Broke, Belford and Darlington RFS Brigades spent yesterday monitoring a fire down Wollombi Rd in the State Forest.

It’s located 4 km south of Broke with crews returning this morning with air support to continue working on the blaze.

The RFS said there is no threat to property from either fire.
