Bus replacements to disrupt Hunter Valley rail line this week

Rail commuters across the Hunter are being advised to plan ahead this week, with the Australian Rail Track Corporation set to carry out essential maintenance on the Hunter Valley line from tomorrow.

The works program runs from 6.30am Tuesday 21 July to 6.30am Friday 24 July, covering the Warabrook-Muswellbrook, Muswellbrook-Ulan and Muswellbrook-Narrabri sections of the rail corridor.

Buses will replace trains between Scone and Maitland from 4am Tuesday through to 7.30am Friday. Additional overnight closures will see buses replace all trains between Scone, Dungog and Newcastle Interchange on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, from 7.20pm to 4.20am. The 6.01pm Maitland to Dungog service will also be replaced by bus.

Road coaches will replace NSW TrainLink services from Tuesday to Thursday, with the Sydney-Armidale and Sydney-Moree Xplorer services replaced by coach for their entire journey during the works period.

The Australian Rail Track Corporation is reminding motorists and pedestrians to stay alert for altered traffic conditions near the rail corridor, watch for signage and obey road rules at level crossings while rail machinery is active on the line.
