Police have confirmed a body has been located in a car submerged in the Merriwa River.
Emergency services were called to the river along the Golden Highway at 6 o’clock this morning following reports a car was upturned in the water.
“A crime scene was established by police from Hunter Valley Police District, with officers working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a statement from NSW Police read.
“A body has since been located in the vehicle; however, identification has not yet taken place.”
