More than 1.74 billion dollars will be invested in three key New South Wales road corridors to improve safety and efficiency, supporting regional communities, freight operators and industries across the state.

Under the new Regional Corridors Upgrade Program, the Federal Government will invest 697 million dollars, combined with 1.049 billion dollars from the State Government. The funding will go towards upgrades to routes that connect freight to ports and industries and keep regional communities connected.

In the Hunter and Upper Hunter, 520.8 million dollars has been allocated to the Newcastle to Dubbo corridor, including upgrades along the Golden Highway, John Renshaw Drive and the Hunter Expressway. A further 849.8 million dollars will go to the Muswellbrook to Armidale corridor, including key sections of the New England Highway. The third corridor, Euston to Tocumwal, will receive 375 million dollars for upgrades along the Sturt and Newell highways and Kidman Way in the state’s south-west.
