Two businesses, three community organisations, five individuals and one couple have been inducted into the Wambo Coal Singleton Hall of Fame for 2026, in recognition of their contributions to the Singleton community and beyond.

They were honoured at a ceremony last week across the categories of Community Service, Business and Industry, Sport and Public Service. The 11 inductees are the largest intake since 2019 and bring the total number of honourees to 94.

Mayor of Singleton Cr Sue Moore said the Hall of Fame celebrated the people, organisations and businesses whose achievements, dedication and generosity had helped shape the town’s identity and success.

“Singleton might be a regional community, but the achievements of our people are anything but small,” she said.

“Some of our inductees have represented Singleton on the world stage, while others have quietly worked behind the scenes for decades, giving their time, energy and expertise to make our community a better place.”

Among the inductees are Morgan Engineering, a family-owned business that has contributed to the region’s manufacturing industry and economy for more than 50 years, and the Hunter River Times, which emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic to strengthen community connections and went on to earn state recognition for its journalism.

Also recognised are individuals who have strengthened local healthcare, championed community wellbeing, preserved history and promoted Wonnarua culture and heritage, as well as those who have achieved international sporting success while nurturing local talent. Decades of volunteer service were also honoured, including support for veterans and their families, empowering young women and protecting the environment.

The 2026 inductees are Morgan Engineering and the Hunter River Times (Business and Industry); Singleton Tidy Towns, Di Sneddon, Dr Tuan Au, the Singleton RSL Sub-Branch, Singleton Girl Guides, the late Jack Fleming, and the late Jack and Coral Francis (Community Service); Laurie Perry (Public Service); and Hilary Kennedy (Sport).
