Elective surgery wait times at Maitland Hospital are among the worst in the state, according to a new report.
Compare the Market’s Australian Surgery Wait Times report ranked Maitland Hospital third lowest in NSW, based on public hospital waiting-list data. Just 61.2 per cent of its 2,384 elective procedures were completed within clinically recommended time frames.
Kurri Kurri Hospital ranked sixth lowest, with 70.4 per cent of procedures completed on time, while John Hunter Hospital was ninth lowest at 73.6 per cent.
However, in contrast, Muswellbrook Hospital was listed at the other end of the scale, with 99.8 per cent of its elective surgeries completed within the recommended time frames. The national average is 80.7 per cent.
The recommended time frame depends on urgency: 30 days for urgent cases, 90 days for semi-urgent and 365 days for non-urgent.
