Stablehand Job Ready Program (Racing NSW)
Love horses and looking for a rewarding career in the thoroughbred racing industry?
There are only three places remaining in Racing NSW’s upcoming Stablehand Job Ready Program in Scone, starting 7 September 2026.
This free three-week training program is perfect for school leavers, people considering a career change, or anyone interested in turning their passion for horses into a paid career. No prior racing stable experience is required.
Participants will complete:
- Two weeks of hands-on training at the Team Thoroughbred Training Academy in Scone.
- One week of work placement with a local racing trainer.
Throughout the program, participants will gain practical skills in horse handling, stable operations, workplace safety, and the day-to-day expectations of working in a racing stable.
The program is designed to build confidence, industry knowledge, and employment opportunities, with some participants potentially progressing into paid positions with local trainers.
With only three positions remaining, interested applicants are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest as soon as possible.
If the Scone program dates don’t suit, prospective participants are still encouraged to register their interest. Racing NSW uses Expressions of Interest to identify demand, preferred locations, and workforce needs across the state, helping shape future Job Ready programs.
