Hunter New England Local Health District is one of the first NSW Health locations to implement the Single Digital Patient Record, marking a major shift in how healthcare information is managed.

The system brings a patient’s health information together in one secure place, supporting more connected care across hospitals, clinics and community services within the district.

Under the new system, a patient’s health information will follow them wherever they receive care across Hunter New England. NSW Health says this will improve continuity of care, while ensuring personal health information remains private, safe and protected.

The Single Digital Patient Record is also being used by NSW Health Pathology’s John Hunter Laboratory and Justice Health NSW, helping streamline information sharing across different parts of the health system.

NSW Health says the change will benefit both patients and clinicians by reducing duplication and improving access to accurate, up-to-date medical records.
