The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to two separate emergency incidents across the Hunter region on Friday 17 April.
Just after midnight, NSW Ambulance requested the helicopter attend a burns incident at Muswellbrook. Two men in their 20s were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, along with a critical care paramedic and a NSW Health doctor from the helicopter’s medical team.
Both men suffered upper and lower body burn injuries and were transported to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
Later that afternoon, about 4:20pm, the helicopter was again tasked to a single‑vehicle motorcycle crash near Putty. A man in his 20s was treated at the scene for knee and neck injuries by ambulance and critical care crews.
He was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
