The HiLux owned the best-seller spot for seven years, until the Ford Ranger swooped in for 2023 and now Toyota wants its title back!

How? With an all-new, ninth-gen HiLux!

And inside? It’s been totally reimagined with upgraded tech and way more usable cabin space than its decade-old predecessor. The upgrades feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, along with a row of physical switches for essential functions like air conditioning and the digital instrument cluster ranges from 7.0 to 12.3 inches, depending on the model grade.

Under the hood, this new era is driving the HiLux straight into its EV era!

Toyota’s going ‘multipath’, meaning we’re getting the first-ever all-electric HiLux and a hydrogen fuel cell electric version which both provide zero emissions.

Even the diesel line-up is getting an overhaul! The 2.8-litre four-cylinder engine is standard, and it’ll boast a fancy 48-volt mild-hybrid ‘V-Active’ tech. Which will save heaps of fuel thanks to a smart alternator and clever start-stop system. They’ll be available in single, extra, and dual-cab styles, 4×2 or 4×4, and across WorkMate, SR, SR5, Rogue, and Rugged X grades. So many options!

No word yet on a GR Sport model, the budget-friendly petrol base model has been axed as its 2.7-litre engine couldn’t meet new emissions rules and the cheaper 2.4-litre turbo-diesel is also gone.

The diesel models hit showrooms from December 2025, the EV HiLux arrives in 2026 while the Hydrogen model won’t be available until 2028.
