Workers at Rix’s Creek Mine near Singleton have voted overwhelmingly to reject the Bloomfield Group’s latest enterprise agreement, with 92.6 per cent voting no in a strong show of unity.

The proposed deal was identical to Bloomfield’s “renewed offer” announced publicly earlier this month — but union members say the new proposal was even worse than the one they had already refused.

Rix’s Creek miners have now entered their fifth week of strike action as they continue to fight for a fair agreement that includes proper accident pay, improved wages, and safer conditions.

“This wasn’t a genuine attempt to resolve the dispute,” said Lodge President Mitchell Hill. “It was an antagonistic move designed to divide the workforce and undermine bargaining. Instead of addressing the core issues, Bloomfield came back with something that took us backwards.”

Mr Hill said the result sends a clear message that the workforce is united and determined.
“Members have seen through Bloomfield’s tactics, and they won’t be bullied or divided. We want an agreement that respects the work we do and keeps injured workers whole,” he said.

The Mining and Energy Union says it will continue to push for a resolution that recognises the essential contribution of its members and ensures fair treatment for all workers at the site.
