Boil Water Alert Continues for Upper Hunter

June 18, 2025 3:09 pm in by

Residents in Aberdeen, Scone & Murrurundi remain on a Boil Water Alert after heavy rain in the Glenbawn Dam caused issues with water treatment.

The Upper Hunter Shire Council issued the first alert on June the 2nd, warning residents that tap water was unsafe to consume. At this stage the Council does not currently know how long the boiled water alert will remain in place.

Council has advised that recent tests of the water continue to show a high turbidity level, which makes the removal of pathogens difficult in the sanitation process.
