Stephen is relatively new to the world of commercial radio having graduated from The Australian Film Television and Radio School at the end of 2010 but has achieved a lot into a short time. Prior to making the jump to a media career, he had a successful career as an auctioneer and construction administrator while dabbling in community radio. Growing up in Western Sydney, Stephen has always had his finger on the pulse of issues affecting regular Aussie battlers.
He began his broadcasting career in December of 2010 at 2HC in Coffs Harbour where he produced and presented the afternoon show "Coffs Coasting" each weekday from midday to 3pm following one of his idols, the legendary John Laws each day. During his first year on-air, Stephen was named Best Newcomer On-Air at the 2011 Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs).
Following an 18 month stint which saw him lead the charge for government to upgrade the notorious Pacific Highway and initiate a campaign to make Coffs Harbour City Council more accountable to ratepayers, Stephen was approached by Grant Broadcasters to move to the Hunter Valley to take up a role as news and current affairs director at Radio Hunter Valley and to produce and present 2NM's morning show "Hunter Valley Today". Shortly after his arrival, he was again named as a finalist at the ACRAs for Best Talk Presenter.
In 2013 Stephen was once again an ACRA finalist in three separate categories, walking away with the award for Best Talk Presenter, an award that recognises his passion for talk radio and presenting a quality radio program for the people of the Hunter Valley that not only covers local issues and events but also explores national and state-based issues of relevance to the people of the Hunter – a role Stephen relishes due of his passion for current affairs and politics.
Stephen is also a passionate supporter of the Australian country music industry which has been an invaluable asset to 2NM's live broadcasts from CMC Rocks The Hunter and the Tamworth Country Music Festival. His friendships with many of Australia's top country artists have allowed him to bring listeners an insight rarely heard elsewhere. He also often seeks out young, up-and-coming talent giving them a platform to launch their careers. Outside of radio, Stephen is avid football fan and supporter of SSC Napoli in the Italian Serie A, Liverpool FC in the English Premier League and more recently the Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-League. He's also a one-eyed Wests Tigers supporter come rugby league season.
Recently, Stephen has taken up golf and cites his handicap as his swing.
